Counting

How do I count a row?

Create or open a project. Then create or open a section. The +/- buttons at the bottom of the page are used to increment or decrement as you work through rows.

What are sections?

Sections are the pieces of a project. Back, front, sleeves, whatever your project calls for. Each one keeps its own row count, repeats, and time, and a project's total time adds up all of its sections.

How does the timer work?

The timer starts when you open a section and stops when you leave it. You can pause it any time you put the needles down. If you come back after a long break, Narwool will ask to make sure that time should be counted before updating the timer. In Narwool's Settings you can turn off the automatic start, hide the timer, and choose whether the screen stays awake.

Repeats

How do repeats work?

A repeat is a set of rows your pattern has that you work more than once, like "work rows 17–20 five times." Add one to a section with its first row, its last row, and how many times to work it. When you count past row 20, Narwool takes you back to row 17 and shows which pass you're on (e.g. 2 of 5). After the last pass, counting carries on to the next row (21 in this case).

What if the pattern says "repeat until the piece measures…"?

Set the number of times to Until you stop. The rows loop for as long as you need. When you're done, tap Stop repeating.

I counted wrong inside a repeat. How do I fix it?

Tap the - button. Counting back works across the loop, so going back from row 17 on the third pass takes you to row 20 of the second. You can also edit the repeat to change its rows or how many times it's worked.

Syncing with iCloud

How do I get my projects on my other devices?

Narwool syncs through your own iCloud account at no cost. Sign in to the same Apple Account on each device and make sure iCloud is on for Narwool (Settings → [your name] → iCloud). There's no Narwool account to create, and Narwool's Settings shows whether it's syncing.

My projects aren't showing up on my other device.

  • Give it a minute. Changes usually arrive within seconds, but can take a few minutes.
  • Check that both devices are signed in to the same Apple Account and have iCloud enabled for Narwool.
  • Check that both devices are online and your iCloud storage isn't full.
  • Open Narwool on both devices and leave it open for a moment.

Can you see my projects?

No. They're stored on your device and in your private iCloud, which only your Apple Account can access. See the privacy policy for more details.

Moving to a new phone

How do I move my projects to a new iPhone?

If iCloud is on, install Narwool on the new phone, sign in to the same Apple Account, and your projects sync down automatically. Without iCloud, moving your data with Quick Start or restoring from a backup of your old phone brings your projects along.

Do I have to buy Premium again?

No, Premium is unlocked via your Apple Account. On a new phone, go to Settings and tap Restore Purchases.

What happens if I delete the app?

Deleting the app will remove projects stored on the device. These will be restored if they have been backed up to iCloud. Without iCloud backup enabled, projects are lost forever.
