In short: No account to create and no ads. Your device gets an anonymous ID so rooms and tournaments can trust it. Tournaments keep the names you enter, and finished games are kept for hero statistics without any player names.

What the Companion collects

An anonymous ID for your device

The first time you use a feature that needs our server, like hosting or joining a connected game or creating a tournament, your browser signs in anonymously with Supabase, the service that runs our database. We don’t collect any personal information and there’s no need to provide a name, email, or password. Your device gets a random ID for anonymous identification to manage requests.

Connected games

When you host a connected game, the server keeps a short record of the room: its four-character code, the host’s anonymous ID, and when it started and ended. Room records are deleted after 24 hours.

The game itself lives on the host’s device. It’s relayed to the other phones in the room through Supabase’s realtime service and isn’t stored on our server.

Finished games

When a tracked game ends with a winner, the Companion sends a record of it for hero statistics:

  • When and how long: When it started and ended, and the number of rounds and turns.
  • The format and result: The format (such as 2v2), which side won, and how.
  • Heroes: How heroes were chosen, and the heroes played and banned on each side.
  • Tournament: Its tournament, if it was part of one.

No player names, player IDs, or personal information are included. Game records are kept indefinitely and anonymized.

Tournaments

A tournament is stored on our server as its organizer enters it: its name, settings, the team and player names, pairings, and results, along with the organizer’s anonymous ID. Only our server uses that ID to verify tournament access or actions and it’s never shared publicly. Anyone with a tournament’s link or code can view it. A tournament is kept until its organizer deletes it. Tournaments that sit unfinished for a week or longer are deleted automatically.

Feedback you send

The Feedback form files a report in a private issue tracker that only we can read. The report includes:

  • What you write: A title, your message, and a contact detail only if you add one.
  • What helps us reproduce a problem: The game in progress if there is one, the page, your browser’s user agent, and your screen size.

The form tells you this before you send. Reports are only kept long enough to resolve an issue.

What stays in your browser

The game you’re tracking, its setup, the tournaments you follow, the team you’re on, and your display preferences are saved in your browser’s local storage, along with the anonymous sign-in. Clearing your browser’s site data removes all locally stored data.

Other services

The Companion runs on a couple of standard services. Like any website you visit, they handle the basic connection details needed to deliver pages to you.

  • Supabase: Stores the rooms, tournaments, and game records described above, and relays connected games.
  • Vercel: Hosts the Companion.
